The Lynnfield Library is hosting its first ever
Comic Convention :
Saturday, May 6 from 10-4:30 pm
Events and Activities will span three locations: Lynnfield Library, the Meeting House, and the Lynnfield Common!
This is a free, family-friendly celebration of all things fandom, geeky, nerdy, and awesome! We have tons of events planned so grab your best costume and get ready for some super-powered fun!
Our vendor tables will also be open starting at 10:00 am for patrons to explore local authors, artists, and businesses.
Feel free to drop-in anytime, as registration will take place all day, and stay as long as you’d like!

Registration for all of the events and competitions begins at 10:00 am on the Common.
Make sure you arrive early to ensure your spot!
Pokémon Go Safari**
After you’ve registered take a stroll around the Lynnfield Common and participate in our Pokémon Go Safari. We will be dropping lures from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at all four Pokestops around the common! So grab your phone and catch some Pokémon! The top three trainers who catch the Pokémon with the highest CP will win a prize!
Video Game Tournament**
Our first competition, a video game tournament, starts at 10:30 am. Be sure to bring your “A” game as you challenge other skilled fighters in one-on-one combat in Super Smash Bros. Wii U! Registration is required and first, second, and third place will receive a prize!
Pizza Lunch Fundraiser (Friends of the Lynnfield Library)
Once you’ve crushed your foes at our first competition, be sure to swing by the Common again for our Pizza Lunch Fundraiser, sponsored by the Friends of the Lynnfield Library, and crush your hunger! So bring your appetite and help fund more awesome programming! Cash only, please! Additional details to come.
Come and join us for some Jedi training! Guard Up! will be teaching young Padawans how to fight like their favorite Jedi, including weapons training, “using the Force” moves, and acting out cool scenes from the movies! Ages 7+. Registration is required and space is limited!
For those under 7 years old, we will have foam lightsabers for an interactive playtime!
If you need a break from the crowds, or if you just want to watch a great movie, join us for a screening of Summer Wars (PG). Filled with action, adventure, and mystery follow a young math genius as he solves a complex equation and inadvertently puts a virtual world’s artificial intelligence in a position to destroy Earth! Will he be able to stop the virus from spreading?! Watch and find out!
All day long we will have tables open in the library for everyone to make various superhero-themed take home crafts!
Board Games and Legos
In addition to Superhero Crafts, we will have tables open in the library for playing classic and new board games, as well as Legos for everyone to enjoy!
How to Draw Cartoons
Do you like to draw? Do you want to be a cartoonist? See cartoonist Paul Merklein show you how to create your own cartoon characters! Paul will also have a table with his cartoons at our vendor tables! Come and meet Paul and get a FREE cartoon sticker!
Star Wars Museum
Join Peter Struzziero as he highlights the impact of Star War on pop culture, and take a tour of our hands-on Star Wars Museum filled with tons of Star War memorabilia!
Cosplay, or “costume play” is a rising phenomenon at anime and sci-fi conventions across the globe! People of all ages dress up as their favorite characters from movies, books, and TV shows to share their creativity and hobbies with one another. Come meet one such cosplayer, Boston’s Mink the Satyr to learn more about cosplay, what it is, and how to get started. Learn some tricks of the trade and have all your cosplay-related questions answered!
It’s time to show off your best costume for glory, fame, and fabulous prizes! Compete against other cosplayers for the title of BEST COSTUME! Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place. Registration is required. All ages are welcomed to compete!
