Fines & Fees

  • Lynnfield Library Owned Items that are returned after the due date will not be charged an overdue fine. There is an exception for some Library of Things items that are subject to their own fines and fees as per the Library of Things Lending Agreement.
  • Non-Lynnfield owned items returned after the due date may have fines as set by the owning library.
  • Long Overdue items – items that are more than 42 days overdue – may be considered lost and a bill for the replacement cost of the item will be added to the patron’s account. Returning the item will eliminate any bill attached to the item.
  • Any patron with an item more than 42 days overdue will also receive a temporary block on their library card until the item is either returned or a replacement fee is paid to the Library.  The block will prohibit check-outs, hold placement, renewals, and various other services.
  • Patrons with fines totaling $10.00 or more may not checkout additional items until the fine has been paid off or reduced.
  • Lynnfield items that are returned in damaged condition or incomplete will be addressed according to our Damaged/Incomplete Item policy.

Renewals

Most items can be renewed up to two times unless another person has placed a hold on and is waiting for the item.

You may renew items in person, over the phone by calling (781) 334-5411 or (781) 334-6404, or online by logging into your account.

As of November 6, Lynnfield now has AutoRenewals. AutoRenewal uses an automated process to identify and renew items that are eligible for renewal on the item’s due date. Eligible items are ones with remaining renewals and no holds on them. Starting December 1, AutoRenweal applies to items owned by NOBLE libraries that have AutoRenewals. Patrons with email address on their accounts will receive an email with the renewal status of the item(s) on the due date.

Items from non-NOBLE libraries cannot be renewed.

Note: A personal identification number (PIN) or password is required to access your online account.  You may reset your PIN/password online or in person at the Library.  You must have a valid email address associated with your library account to access your online account. If not, please contact the Library for further assistance.

InterLibrary Loan

Quite often, patrons are able to walk right into the Library and immediately take out the book or audiovisual material they need. What happens if we don’t own the item, or it is out? At that point, the Reference Department can request items from the other 28 members of the NOBLE consortium for delivery to the Library in three to four days. If no other library in NOBLE owns the requested item, we look elsewhere in Massachusetts, and if need be, across the country! We have received items from as far away as Alaska, Louisiana, and California! So, if we don’t have the item you want, please ask! (Just remember, it will take a week or more to get items from outside the NOBLE network.)

Computer and Scanner Use

Computers

Library patrons have access to nine high-speed Internet PC computers in the Reading Room. In addition to Internet access, these computers provide links to a variety of databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher (2016).  Each of the nine Internet-accessible computers in the Reading Room is connected to both a black & white and color printer.  Black and white copies are $.15 each and color copies are $.25 each.  The Internet computers may be used for thirty minutes with the exception of the “quick use” computer which may be used for fifteen minutes.   The Library also provides four catalog computers – three in the Reading Room, one in the Children’s Room – to look up materials in the Lynnfield and NOBLE collections.

Please see our Internet Access Policy for more information.

Scanner

The Library has a scanner connected to one of the public access computers.  There is no extra fee to use the scanner, but normal print charges do apply. (There is a charge of $.15 cents for black and white prints, $.25 cents for color prints.)  Items scanned on to the computer can be printed, emailed, or saved onto a flash drive.

Wireless Printing

Access the library’s wireless printing portal HERE.

Microfilm/Microfiche Reader/Printer

The Library has one microfilm/microfiche reader and printer located in the Reading Room on the Main Floor available for use with our older issues of newspapers and Genealogical microfilm. There is another reader/printer available in the Genealogy Room. Copies are $.15 each. Ask one of the Reference Librarians for further assistance.

Photocopying & Printing

For your convenience, a photocopier is located in the Reading Room on the main floor of the Library. Copies can be made on either standard letter (8 1/2″ X 11″) or legal (8 1/2″ X 14″) size paper and cost $.15 each. Double-sided and ledger (11” X 17”) size paper cost $.25 each. The photocopier does not produce color copies.

Each of the eight public Internet-accessible computers located in the Reading Room is connected to a black and white laser printer and a color printer.  Black and white copies are $.15 each and color copies are $.25 each.

Wireless Access

Wireless internet service is available at the Library. Patrons with wireless-enabled devices can connect to the internet for as long as they like, without waiting for a free PC. Patrons who use the Library’s wireless network must abide by the Library’s Acceptable Use Policy. Patrons are responsible for knowing how to configure their own wireless devices.

Library Space
